Transportation
Train
The local train station is positioned on Piazza Papa Giovanni 18th. You can get information on arriving and departing trains at 095-7306255. The train station is very well connected to Rome. There are eight trains running every day from Rome. The trip takes about 10 hours.
Car
If you decide getting to Catania by car, the best option is through Messina to Sicily. Afterwards get on the motorway A18 south, pass Taormina and follow the sign directions for Catania. In the city, the traffic is not as dreadful as in Palermo; however, it is still recommendable to leave you car somewhere, best in front of the hotel and explore the city on foot, or catch a taxi.
Bus
Unfortunately the city has no central bus company. All bus lines operate on an independent basis and the situation is pretty chaotic.
Getting around the city
